1st Workshop in Systems Microbiology!!!

The 1st Workshop on Systems Microbiology is here! This week, Ribeirão Preto will be the place to discuss Systems and Synthetic Biology of Microorganisms, from Bacteria and Archaea to Eukaryotes, not forgetting microbial communities investigated under the eyes of Metagenomics. During a whole day, prominent Brazilian and international speakers will share their latest results on the field. See you at Ribeirão!

Paper published!!!

Our paper on the synthetic engineering of triple binding sites for global regulators in Escherichia coli using in silico approaches has just been published on ACS Synthetic Biology! Congratulations to the authors for this very nice job! By the way, this is the first work entirely made in the new lab. More will come soon!

Paper published!!!

Our work on the development of modular vectors for the Archaea Halobacterium salinarum has been published on PLoS One. This new set of genetic tools will be of great importance for the utilization of this organism as model to understand life under extreme environments. Thanks to the co-authors for the effort to put this paper together!

PhD Qualifying Examination. March 9th, 2 pm. 

Our PhD student Gerardo will present his Qualifying Examination next Monday at 2 pm, in the Seminar Room of the Cell and Molecular Biology Department. As part of the procedure, Gerardo will first give a talk about the mechanisms of gene regulation in Bacteria. Next, he will defend his submitted manuscript titled "Probing the limits of synthetic cis-regulatory elements for simultaneous recognition of multiple transcriptional factors in bacteria". The first part of the presentation is public. Good luck, Gerardo!
